As the holidays rapidly approach, I would like to take a few moments to wish you a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, or other Holiday you may be celebrating, as well as a joyous, healthy and prosperous New Year. I appreciate your confidence and trust in me, and I am always here to assist you with any questions or concerns you might have about your investments. As we entered the Christmas season last year, the markets were on a jubilant ride higher. Twelve months later, the markets are at a slightly lower level from December a year ago, and some of the optimism has faded, despite record index levels less than three months ago. Tariffs, trade issues, interest rates, political intrigue and a further flattening of the yield curve have introduced a bit of pre-new year sobriety to the market’s mindset. This correction has occurred even as the economy is performing in line with the Fed’s dual mandate of controlling inflation and maintaining full employment. Currently, the unemployment rate is 3.7%, and inflation is running at 2.2%. The Labor Force Participation Rate is still 62.9%, far below the record rate of 67.1% in 2000.
The transition from Signator Investors, Inc. to Royal Alliance Associates, Inc. is proceeding better than expected and I feel almost fully operational already. Viewing client assets in the online systems is still somewhat incomplete, due to the time frame it takes for the various companies with which we do business to complete the change in their data feeds. Otherwise, the change has been quite seamless. If you have any questions about the transition, don’t hesitate to contact me.
Some of you may receive a Client Account Profile Form in the mail sometime in 2019. This form is needed to update your contact and other required information. Please make any necessary adjustments to the form and return it in the envelope provided.
Rebalancing and the diversification of accounts is a continuing process which has been successful and very well received. If you wish to opt out of the rebalancing and diversification program, or provide updated information, please contact me by the telephone number or email address listed in the heading of this Holiday Greeting or by returning the form on the reverse side.
